The Rhode Island College Campus Police is an Accredited Law Enforcement Agency
11月19日, 2022, the Rhode Island College Campus Police Department (RICPD) was recognized for its commitment to public safety excellence by receiving its initial Law Enforcement Accreditation award from The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®).
Approximately five percent of all law enforcement agencies worldwide are currently internationally accredited by CALEA®. The RICPD is now one of only twelve police departments in Rhode Island to achieve CALEA® accredited status and the only state college/university department to earn this prestigious award.
We encourage all members of our campus community to 向CALEA®提供直接反馈 regarding the RICPD’s compliance with CALEA® standards. Your comments can be in the form of either commendations or concerns. This feedback is designed to provide the RICPD with information vital to supporting its ongoing commitment to public safety excellence.
RICPD也被认可 Rhode Island Police Accreditation Commission (RIPAC), having received its initial award on June 30, 2021. Each accreditation award will remain in effect for four years, after which time both accrediting bodies will conduct on-site reassessments of the RICPD to ensure its continued compliance for reaccreditation purposes.
These distinguished honors are the result of the hard work and dedication by the members of the RICPD to meet the rigorous performance metrics set by both accrediting bodies. The standards that the RICPD must continue to adhere to reflect universally accepted best practices in policing and will assist the agency in maintaining its status as a professional law enforcement organization that is dedicated to providing exemplary police services to the campus community.
The mission of the Rhode Island College Campus Police, a component of the College's Department of Security and Safety, 在多方面的, is simplistic in nature and is centered upon a single goal: to provide for the safety of life, 个人及机构财产, 并加强教育过程.
This goal is accomplished through the enforcement of all local, 州和联邦法律和法规, as well as the various policies and procedures established by the college administration and the Council on Postsecondary Education.
Wilson intends to put a spotlight on lethal force, racial profiling and police brutality.
